APO green help & temple construction NEED SUMMIT COUNTY HELP
APO recycle town & initial needs request
Hey all,
Some of you have heard I will be attempting a collaborative community based
RECYCLE/ COMPOST TOWN this year at APO. Continuing from our greening efforts in
years past and what an awesome job we did last year I know this year will be
amazing.
I don't want to keep any of this a suprise to those of you wanting to be
involved and want to especially contribute art to this town even on a small
scale...the rest of the APOGEANS can be suprised! The town is open for anyone to
camp in & help in even if you don't camp there. I would like to make it fun &
interactive and even have had some request for day time party zone with green
elixers & music...SOOOO BE IT.
Camp with us, help a little, help a lot, help before or help during!!! APO is
what you make of it an this is an awesome opportunity,. I have 5 partial
helpers right now and need more. Even if you can just do 1 thing. I will be down
at the APO town hall meeting this SUN as well (I am not in Denver as much now).
PERFECT time to bring me boxes, bring me your temple art, bring me your ideas
for more recycled art projects that can take place at event during the day.
1st NEED EVERY COLORADO BURNER TO HELP IN FOLLOWING WAYS IF YOU WOULD LIKE THEN
OTHER NEEDS FOLLOW.
1. start saving boxes with dimensions 17" long, 11"wide, 11" height need to have
top and bottom preferably, can be faltened. Please no other size boxes right
now Thx. I will have a denver and boulder collection site and already have about
50.....the more we have the bigger the temple can be.
2. The temple will be decorated with art work from all of you. So I need
300-600 peices of paper 17" x 11" (or an 8x11" will be ok too) with something on
it that really means something to you, something you want to burn away or for,
pictures are fine, writing is fine, think collages, memories....THINK BAD KARMA
YOU WANT TO RELEASE). all of this can be cofidential or not. So do now and mail
to me or I will have a denver collection point. I WILL BRING PAPER FOR YOU
BIGGER SIZE SO YOU CAN PICK UP AT APO TOWN HALL MEETING!
3. I would like 1 wall of the temple to be dedicated to Timber so maybe you
want to contribute to that.
2nd
2 more areas to help in this year (with many breakdowns in each); both have ways
to help pre event and during as well as take down...do 1, do all...I will need
lots of help to make this all work well & be amazing
1. Recyle Town art & projects
- The "Karmic" Temple (building out of all reycled cardboard, decorating,
temple guardians, cerimonal burn, fire spining before burn, helping participants
build on to the temple during event, lighting, etc...)
- RECYCLE ART DOME (make anything out of recycled material pre-event & help
contribute, show people how to make things at event, green energy zone, set up
of the dome & town, help me create 2 larger recycled art pecies for display
pre-event, etc...)
- Fundraising
- Doing music & bar during day at recyle town
2. Greening efforts at APO (recycle & compost infrastucture, earth guardians,
the AMAZING GREEN TEAM)
Pre-event:
PRE EVENT LIKE RIGHT NOW & FOR only 2 months till event!!!
- Education: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Restore (getting theme camp commintments
for greening, getting resources to everyone for a no plastic event, promoting no
glow stick event
-SOMEONE organize keg shares for beer...this soooooo helps with reducing!
- Denver/Boulder/CoSpgs based Collection of grey water buckets, onion bags or
burlap sacs like potato bags (give to any camp that forgets and have available
for individuals as well if they forget).
-Need two more smaller composters made so people compost more
- Signs need to be made <<<<<<<<BIG, lit at night saying absolutely no trash,
more permanent, re-usable (more money and help we have the cooler and more
effective the signs can be)>>>>>>>>>
- MOOP bags need to be made (pre-event at home thing if 10 people did 10 we
would have a ton), sturdy, old clothes are great for this. I AM not a sewer
though.
Maybe we can have a Denver, Boulder, COSpgs coordinator working under me to get
this all done and hold different workshops to do this...may get more
participation that way...and these could serve multi-purpose for any of your
other needs to while people get together.
AT EVENT:
2-3 PEOPLE EACH SHIFT TO HELP GREEN
10-2PM & 2PM-6PM (if you can only do 2 hr blocks that's ok too). It's gonna be
fun and great this year with some changes on how we collect. Sign up online
uner greening, or at town hall meeting or at event.
You see how much work and help this will all take but will be the coolest best
greened regional out there and all of this is a dry run for the playa either
this year if the funding comes or next.
