Call for designs for the 2008 Burning Man Stickers

It's that time of year again - time for our annual sticker contest!

This is the official call for designs for the 2008 Burning Man stickers
that are passed out with the materials you receive at the Greeters
station in Black Rock City. (and other designs that appear randomly in
your hands at other points in time)

These stickers are two or three colors and can vary in size from 2.25"
by 5.5" to 3" by 3" or 3" in diameter for a round design. Please
incorporate the name Burning Man and the year 2008 into your design.
These are two or three color stickers only so please design accordingly.

If at all possible, please post your design on a web page and send the
URL to Bex; otherwise send in a color separated vector Adobe Illustrator
file to [e-mail]. Whether sending your design or questions,
please put "STICKER DESIGN" in the subject header. HEY, remember there
IS a theme, and we like stickers that attempt to use the theme - this
year's theme is: The American Dream.


We are also looking for designs for the 2008 car stickers. This sticker
is traditionally a car window sticker that will be printed on clear
vinyl and in two colors.
Please make sure designs contain the Burning Man name and the year 2008.
Designs should be 2" by 2" or 2" diameter if round. If at all possible,
please post your design on a web page and send the URL to Bex; otherwise
send in a color separated vector Adobe Illustrator file to

CALLING ALL ARTISTS

howdy weirdos (that means you)

i know this is short notice, but we are working with a gallery here in
denver to put together a month-long art showing with a first friday
opening blowout bash. the (tentative) date is for august first, but we
know most people will be frazzling their minds and bodies getting
ready for the holiest of all festivals. maybe.

if the call-for-artists response is low for this date, we will shoot
for october instead to give more people a bit of breathing space. the
idea is that all proceeds will go to benefit a likable charity, such
as BRAF or even Apogaea, if they get their NP status cleared. if
nothing else, there is always a good charity that could use some help
and give us a warm fuzzy reason to throw down. the entrance costs will
be kept as low as possible, but they will cover space rental, permits
(closing down the street!) and any art curation/hanging fees that the
gallery may require... something in the range of 2 to 7 dollar street
value.

the nice thing about this event is you get to take part in a great
event for an evening, and then your work will be seen by many eyeballs
for a full month afterwards. talk about afterglow. we are looking for
all types of art: sculpture, painting, photography, film/video,
electronics, fire stuffs, site-specific installations and even music
(yes, that is art too. well, some of it is anyway). plus anything else
that falls outside of those categories. even if you don't think you
work is "art", chances are you could fool most people anyway. and if
you stick a price tag on it, someone might actually buy it. imagine
that! don't feel ashamed... you have been conditioned to give away
everything, but you don't have to. think of all the OTHER art you
could make if you sold a piece once in a while. interesting concept, eh?

admittedly, we are hitting up the burner/caco crowd here, since that's
who we seem to hang out with the most and who's work we really want to
see as part of this. but it is not limited to burner-y types - anyone
is welcome to participate, so spread the word.

if you are interested in taking part in this, or future events of any/
all types, please let us know. get back to us with the following
information:

your name
the medium(s) you work in
your phone and/or email (or best contact info)
links to your work online (or where we could check it out)
any other info you feel is relevant

even if you are not interested in this particular event, please
provide your information anyways - we are always looking for "content"
for various random events and strange happenings... legit, renegade
and everything in between. it will be nice to build up this artist
database for many MANY reasons.

me at 3zero3 5zero6 8two11. we would love to hear from you, and your
participation in this data collection process will make organizing
events and installations much easier for all of us collectively down
the road. by that i mean you should note that this database will be
open source... so if any other event organizers out there wish to tap
into it, just let us know. quit hiding in your hole and expose
yourself once in a while. art should be seen, not just burned!

Actress w/ strong emotional range


Need an actress with strong emotional range, vulnerability and an authentic nature.
Female/Age (21-30)
Must have the ability to drive a stick shift.
*Must have professional training*

This will be for 3 minute short that is directed towards Suicide Preventation and the encouragement of life.

It will be very visceral, gritty and somewhat dark.
So you have to comfortable with that.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, July 13th from 10am-3pm
